Centuries-old silk spinning is still prevalent in Iranian province of Razavi Khorasan.  

Silk threads are wound round the spindles as a practice dating back to some 3,000 years ago in the province when the Silk Road was served as an important trade route connecting the Mediterranean Sea and China.

In the photos below, you can see how silk cocoons turn into finished silk threads out of which catchy hand-woven floor covering is made.
